Geckos so cute and these cutouts are really fun to paint! They look great in any color and really add a to your patio decor. You can even attach them to bamboo poles and use as markers your garden.

How to Make Your Own Custom
Super Skinny Fine Lining Paint Brush

Haven't been able to find a fine lining brush that makes a thin enough line?

Well, you have come to the right place!

I have bought so many fine lining brushes, and not one of them has ever been skinny enough for the lines I need to paint. If you are reading this, I am guessing you have also run into the same problem.

Great news, I've got the solution - problem solved!  Check out my video and learn how to make your own custom brush. You can tailor it to be as thin as a pin or as thick as a fine tip pencil.

You can make a brush with straight bristles. It works great for fine lining and block lettering.  

You can also make a brush with curved bristles.  The curved brush works great on, well, curves. Painting circles and script writing has never been so easy!

The difference between making a straight bristle brush and a curved brush is how you store it. To make a straight bristle brush make sure NOT to leave it bristle side down in your water cup for long periods of time. If you want a curved bristle brush, just store it bristle side down in water for a few days. Voilà!

So find that small round brush that you tucked away because you never use it and make it into your own custom super skinny fine lining brush today!

How I Found My Passion to Paint | Deborah Kaye Paint With A Passion

Painting is my Passion, It might just be yours too!

I am super excited to be writing my very first blog post! Since this is my first post, I think it’s only befitting I share my story with you.

Many years ago I was celebrating a friend’s birthday in a little, artsy coastal town. While we were window shopping, we came across a really cool boutique that had a huge greeting card section. Now I don’t know about you, but I am the kind of person whose ice cream melts in the cart at the grocery store because I spend too much time ready cards and laughing.

So, when we came across this shop, I just had to go in. Little did everyone know I would spend what felt like forever reading the cards. Not only that, I kept trying to get them to read them all. There was a lot of eyeball rolling that day I tell ya.

Anyways, I found this one card that just stopped me in my tracks. It was a water color painted cat and the caption read “Find Your Passion and Make Sh*t Happen”. Well, being a cat lover of all things cat, had to get it, regardless of the caption. But those words really struck a chord with me. I remember thinking, I wish I knew what my passion was. I wish there was something I loved doing that I could share with people, that would bring joy and happiness...  don’t we all?

After I bought the card, I left it up on display in my home and looked at it every day for a several years. I didn’t know it at the time, but that simple greeting card was the catalyst for what would become Paint With A Passion!

A few years later my boyfriend asked me what I wanted for Christmas. Rock painting had become the latest craze and even though I didn’t know anything about painting beyond what I learned in grade school, I knew I liked painted rocks. I decided to do some research to learn what type of paint I would need. Then I found the perfect beginner acrylic painting kit online and sent my man the link. He must have told Santa what I wanted because I got my new kit on Christmas Day!

That kit sat around for a month because I had no idea how to paint, let alone what to paint. I just knew I needed a rock. Then I got smart and looked online for beginners rock painting tutorials. I opened the kit and sat down to paint my very first rock... a lady bug. You know what? It turned out pretty darn good for a beginner painter.

That was it - I was hooked. I was painting every chance I could get. I got better and better, and eventually started painting gifts for family and friends. I even got brave enough to share my photos on social media. Everyone kept telling me how good my art was and that they wanted lessons. At first, I thought maybe they were just being kind. Then one day I came home and looked at that card yet again. I read the caption for what was probably the millionth time, and it dawned on me... I had found my passion and I was going to make it happen!  

Imagine that, one simple greeting card, in the right spot, at the right time, with an encouraging message. Sounds like destiny to me!
